At 4am yesterday morning a local farmer brought me an injured Red Tail Hawk that he had been nursing over a week. The hawk was hit by a slow moving car. There are no broken bones and no cuts or scrapes.

She (it may not be a "she" But I'm gonna call "her" "she" anyway) was however showing signs of a possible concussion. her eyes did not focus properly though her retinas were good and clear. Her head did this rather unnerving shaking/jerking motion to either side and she would bend her head straight back onto his back from time to time, A sign of Ataxia (my mother calls it "Star Gazing" or "Stargazer's syndrome" and we have had several birds display this before but mixed with his other issues we both doubt its caused by the same thing) and tilted her tail straight up . She could not stand on her own yet but she would flap her wings and she could grab things with her feet.

This is her pic this morning when she first woke up, She can now stand on her own for short periods, her eyes focus properly, her appetite is increasing but she can not walk as of yet with out falling. She still has seizures though and but is expected to make a full recovery and release back into the wild. We are keeping our fingers crossed! If the seizures don't stop she'll be put into an education program
